About
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The universities current at this time were the University of Adelaide, University of Melbourne, University of Queensland, University of Sydney, University of Tasmania, University of Western Australia, Canberra University College, New England University College and the University of NSW.
The research scrutinised archives held in universities, like student cards, professorial board minutes, student publications, in addition to documents held by the National Archives of Australia where existing, and other published sources.
Each university presented distinctive documentation of postwar education which has led to variances in the documentation.
- The University of Sydney cohort includes one in four identified CRTS students and a selection of non CRTS students, identified through an additional project funded by the Gerald and Gwenda Fisher bequest and the Chancellors Committee. (Nyree Morrison)
- The University of Adelaide cohort includes WWI servicemen and women and those who studied under the CRTS and served in WWII. This website is the replacement for November 1918: Emerging from the Great War website previously developed by the University of Adelaide in conjunction with the Expert Nation project, to document their WWI assemblage.
- Particular thanks go to the University of Adelaide’s Sandra Gates and Sue Coppin and the extraordinary team of Volunteers who have worked for several years on recording the names and biographical details of alumni, staff and students who served in WWI and those who studied under the CRTS post WWII.
- The University of Melbourne cohort records all men and women who studied with the assistance of the CRTS identified on student cards held in the University of Melbourne Archives.
- The University of Western Australia lists 1 in 6 of the CRTS students with information taken from the National Archives of Australia series PP39/1 & PP39/2 held in Perth.
