M.D. (Syd. et Adel.), Ch.M.; F.R.C.S. (Edin.), F.C.O.G., F.R.A.C.S., F.A.C.S. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, England, France, Italy and Salonika. Enlisting in October, 1914, and sailing in December as major with No. 1 Australian Stationary Hospital to Egypt and Lemnos, was invalided back to Egypt. Promoted lieutenant-colonel and O.C. troops on hospital ship Karoola in April, 1916. Appointed Staff Officer to D.G.M.S. in 1917, going with him to U.S.A., various fronts in France, Prisoner of War Camps in Switzerland and later to Italian Fronts and Salonika. After return to England, served with No. 1 Australian General Hospital at Rouen, and after the Armistice at Sutton Veny till demobilisation. Hon. Consulting Gynaecological Surgeon, Adelaide Hospital. Early education at New England Grammar School, Armidale. Later at St. Paul's College.
