B.Ec. : Lieutenant, 34th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 7th February, 1916, and sailing 2nd May as corporal, fought with battn. from November, 1916, to August, 1918, being Intelligence Officer from November, 1917. Served at Messines, Passchendaele, Villers-Bretonneux and elsewhere until demobilisation. Promoted sergeant, January, 1917, second-lieutenant, October, and lieutenant, December. Secretary, The Union. Early education at Merthyr Tydvil County School.
