M.C., B.E. : Major, 10th and n th Field Coys., Engineers, A.I.F., France. Enlisting 31st December, 1915, as second-lieutenant in n th Field Coy. and sailing as Adjutant 31st May to England via South Africa, crossed to France in November. Reaching the Front at Armentieres, served at Messines, Broodeseinde, Albert, Amiens and Villers-Bretonneux, where wounded slightly 31st May, 1918. Was officer in charge of 10th Coy. from the Armistice until demobilisation. Promoted lieutenant, 1st March, 1916, and captain, 2nd October; major, 10th November, 1918. Awarded M.C. 1st January, 1919, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Launceston Grammar School.
