Book of Remembrance entry
Eng. II : Corporal, 1st Australian Cavalry Division Signal Squadron, A.I.F., Mesopotamia. Enlisting 14th April, 1916, and sailing 9th May, 1917, went overland from Colombo to Bombay thence by sea to Basra and Baghdad. Was attached to 7th Indian Cavalry Division on Upper Tigris at capture of Daur and Tekrit and then to 1st Anzac Wireless Squadron at H.Q., Bagubah, as mechanic in charge of technical gear till demobilisation, returning via Bombay and Calcutta. Early education at Sydney Grammar School.
