B.E. : Lieutenant, 3rd Australian Tunnelling Coy., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 3rd November, 1916, and sailing as O.C. Tunnelling reinforcements 21st November, 1917, after being commissioned 21st May, passed through Egypt, Italy, France and England and joined coy. at Noeux-les-Mines n th March, 1918. Served at tunnelling and machine-gun emplacements on Hill 70, mine and trap investigation and bridge work until demobilisation, returning via U.S.A. Early education at Newington College.
