Book of Remembrance entry
Arts I I : Lieutenant, R.F.A., R.F.C. and R.A.F., B.E.F., France and Italy. Granted leave from 26th Infantry, N.S.W., 7th April, 1915, proceeded to join Imperial Forces, being commissioned in 11th Cavalry Reserve, Tidworth, 5th July and in 18th Hussars (Special Reserve of Officers) 24th September. Transferring to Field Artillery in 1916, fought with B Battery, 175th Brigade, in France for over a year. Joining R.F.C. 26th April, 1917, trained as a pilot in England with 47th, 45th and 73rd Training Squadrons and served with 45th as lieutenant in France and Italy from 2nd November until wounded on Italian Front 9th January, 1918, when invalided to England. Demobilised 15th April, 1919. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School.
