Book of Remembrance entry

M.A. : Sergeant, 1st Battn., A.I.F., France and England. Enlisting 19th March, 1916, at 46, and sailing 9th November as sergeant, reverted to private on crossing to France 2nd February, 1917. Invalided to Norfolk War Hospital 24th March on account of great cold of winter, but rejoined battn. 13th June and fought at Ypres, Menin Road and Polygon Wood till 22nd October, when drafted to A.I.F., P.O., London, for the Christmas mails. Returning to France, 3rd April, 1918, was failed by doctor and put on Orderly Room staff at Havre and later at Littlemoor in England. At the Armistice was extra-regimental sergeant in A.I.F. Education Service at Westham and Sutton Veny, and later on the transport. Recommended for commission in France. Member of Teachers' College.
