Book of Remembrance entry
M.M., Diploma in Economics and Commerce: Lieutenant, A.F.C. and A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting 25th April, 1915, and sailing with 4th Reinforcements, 5th Australian Field Ambulance 30th September, joined unit in Gallipoli, serving there till the Evacuation. Crossing with it to France in March, 1916, was at Armentieres, Pozieres, Somme, Hindenburg Line, Bullecourt, Ypres and elsewhere, although wounded at Polygon Wood 4th October, 1917. Transferring to A.F.C. 16th August, 1918, was promoted second-lieutenant, 1st April, 1919, and returned for demobilisation. Awarded M.M., 22nd March, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Christ Church School, Sydney.
