Book of Remembrance entry
B.E., Med. Ill : Captain, 17th Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt, France and England. Enlisting 5th May, 1915, and sailing on 12th, fought at Gallipoli till October, when evacuated sick to hospital at Malta. On recovery served with battn. on Canal Defences, in Sinai and France till early 1917. Then was with English formations on Brigade, Divisional and Corps Staffs and with 2nd Australian Divisional H.Q. In 1918 sent to Australian Corps H.Q. and later to Demobilisation H.Q., London, returning in January, 1920. Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Sydney Grammar School. Later at St. Paul's College.
