M.B., Ch.M. : Corporal, 3rd Divisional Signal Coy., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 12th January, 1916, and sailing 27th May, crossed to France in November and fought at Armentieres, Messines, Passchendaele, Somme and the August, 1918, Advance until the 12th, when invalided to hospital in England. Returning to coy. in October, served until demobilisation. Promoted second-corporal, 13th April, 1918. Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Christian Brothers' School, Lewisham.
