C.M.G., M.B., Ch.M. : Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt, France and England. Enlisting in April, 1915, and sailing 1st May in charge of advance party of No. 3 Australian General Hospital, left London with the hospital in July for Lemnos and went with it to Cairo in January, 1916, being Registrar from October, 1915, to October, 1916. Then transferred to No. 2 A.G.H., Wimereux, as second in command and was appointed O.C. No. 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, from March, 1917. In January, 1918, became O.C. 15th Australian Field Ambulance, in July A.D.M.S. 4th Division and from December at Demobilisation Depot, returning 11th August, 1919. Promoted lieutenant-colonel, 7th November, 19 16; colonel, 11th November, 1918. Made a C.M.G. in 1918 and Mentioned in Despatches four times. Early education at Brisbane Grammar School.
