Book of Remembrance entry
B.A. : Lieutenant, 18th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 14th October, 1915, and sailing in November in command of a double coy. 6th Reinforcements, was seconded to 21st Battn. and commanded Lewis machine-guns at Pozieres, where wounded 4th August, 1916. Returning to battn., was subsequently invalided to England and Australia, arriving in September, 1917. Promoted lieutenant 19th September, 1916. Early education at Cleveland St. Superior Public School. Later at Teachers' College.
