M.C., B.E. : Lieutenant, 2nd Australian Tunnelling Coy., A.I.F., France. Enlisting in March, 1917, passed through Officers Training School, Roseville, but sailed in February, 1918, as sergeant and joined coy. as sapper. Was commissioned 13th August, lent to 176th Tunnelling Coy. R.E. and detailed as Tunnelling Officer to Infantry during 1918 Advance, serving till demobilisation. Awarded M.C. 2nd April, 1919. Early education at The King's School.
