B.A. : Lieutenant, Royal Horse Artillery, B.E.F., France. Enlisting in England, where studying sculpture, 4th August, 1914, joined King Edward's Horse and later became lieutenant in Artillery, 1st Cavalry Division, volunteering for Trench Mortar Section and serving till death. Killed in Action, near Hill 60, Flanders, July, 1915, and buried at Poperinghe. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School. Later at St. Paul's College. He gave his life through an act of initial bravery, climbing a tree in full view of the German Lines to shoot a sniper and was hit coming down. For his courage and cheerfulness under all conditions Lieutenant Simpson was loved by his fellow officers and men/'
