Book of Remembrance entry
M.B., Ch.M. : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France; also A.N. and M.E.F., New Guinea. Enlisting 4th November, 1914, and sailing on 28th, was S.M.O., New Guinea Mainland in 1915, promoted major 1st September and returned in January, 1916. Was gazetted major, A.I.F., 1st March and on 17th joined No. 3 Casualty Clearing Station in Melbourne, sailing 5th June as S.M.O. troopship Borda . After serving with C.C.S. till 25th November, 1917, joined 6th Australian Field Ambulance and was R.M.O. 22nd Battn. until 17th March, 1918, rejoining ambulance as O.C. B Section, and remaining with it till October. Promoted lieutenant-colonel and to command 1st A.F.Amb. on 5th, remaining in command until disbandment in March, 1919, and returning as S.M.O. troopship Sardinia in June, being demobilised 8th August.
