Book of Remembrance entry
B.A. : Lieutenant, 35th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 5th January, 1916, and sailing 1st May as corporal, was promoted lance-sergeant at sea, and sergeant in England in October. Crossing to France in November, served with battn. at Armentieres and Messines, where commissioned 4th June, 1917. Shell-shocked there on 7th and evacuated to England and Australia, services ending 10th January, 1918, after four months more in hospital. Early education at Newcastle High School.
