M.B., Ch.M. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, France and Germany. Mobilised from Coast Hospital in September, 1915, to Milson Island. Enlisting in January, 1916, and sailing 16th March, after being Medical Examiner, 35th Battn. area, was R.M.O. 1st Training Battn., Tel-el-Kebir, and proceeded as S.M.O. with it and other details to England. Crossing to France in September, joined 6th Australian Field Ambulance, being relieving R.M.O. 5th Field Artillery Brigade and 23rd and 22nd Battns. until 16th February, 1917, when appointed R.M.O. 24th Battn. On 6th June became R.M.O. 2nd Divisional Engineers, remaining with them until Le Catelet in October, 1918, when transferred to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station, serving until sent for demobilisation from Euskirchen in January, 1919. Promoted major, 28th January, 1918. Served with A.N. and M.E.F. in New Guinea from 1920 to 1922. Early education at Cooerwull Academy.
