Book of Remembrance entry
Arts II (e) : Lieutenant, 9th Light Trench Mortar Battery, A.I.F., France. Enlisting in January, 1916, and sailing in June with 16th Reinforcements after gaining commission at Duntroon, joined battery in January, 1917, and fought at Ypres, Pont de Nieppe, Warneton, Somme, Cachy, Villers-Bretonneux, Hangard Wood, Hindenburg Continued. Line and elsewhere. Slightly wounded at Ypres in March, 1918, and gassed at Villers-Bretonneux whence evacuated to England for two months, serving after the Armistice as Education Officer 35th Battn. till demobilisation. Early education at Leichhardt and Grafton Public and Fort St. High Schools. Later at Teachers' College.
