Book of Remembrance entry

Med. : Private, 30th Battn. and A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting 19th July, 1915, when 15 J, and sailing 9th November, spent six months on Garrison duty at Suez Canal and, crossing to France, served in Fleurbaix sector till wounded at Fromelles 19th July, 1916. Rejoining battn. 14th October was wounded again on the Somme 27th November and evacuated to England, returning to unit 9th January, 1917. Being under age, was sent to Base in October and transferred to No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, 5th June, 1917, and to 11th Australian Field Ambulance 17th August, 1918, joining 3rd Division Blood Transfusion Team and remaining with it till demobilisation. Early education at Cook's Hill Public and Newcastle High Schools.
