Enlisting 14th August, 1916, and sailing 9th November, was kept in England for nine months on account of being under age (19), and then served at Warneton, Villers-Bretonneux, Hangard Wood, Morlancourt, Amiens, Bray, Curlu and until demobilisation. Early education at Newcastle High School.
