Book of Remembrance entry
M.C., B.E., Assoc.M.Inst.C.E. : Lieutenant, 7th Field Coy., Engineers, A.I.F., Egypt, France and England. Enlisting 8th October, 1915, and sailing at the end of November as second-lieutenant in charge of second section of 4th Field Coy., was with 7th in Egypt, constructing light railways and other works. Crossing to France in April, 1916, remained continuously with unit, except for a short period when with Anzac Light Railway. Early in 1918 was appointed to Engineers Training Depot in England and served till demobilisation. Promoted lieutenant, 14th March, 19 16; captain, 8th July, 1918. Awarded M.C. at Zonnebeke 4th October, 1917, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Fort St. High School.
