Book of Remembrance entry

B.Sc. : Lieutenant, 107th Howitzer Battery, A.I.F., France. Enlisting in October, 1915, and sailing in April, 1916, served as gunner till gassed and sick near Messines. Was later sent to Salisbury Officers Training School, where gazetted second-lieutenant. Returning to unit on the eve of Villers-Bretonneux, was put in charge of the battery and promoted lieutenant after that action, but severely wounded while resting in dugout, and evacuated to England and Australia, arriving in September, 1918. Died of Illness due to War Service, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, 5th September, 1921, during Medical course, and was buried at Woronora Cemetery, Sutherland. Early education at Cook's Hill Public and Newcastle High Schools. Later at Teachers' College.
