Med. I : Lance-Corporal, A.A.M.C., A.F.A. and A.A.S.C., A.I.F., Egypt, Gallipoli, England, France and Germany. Enlisting in September, 1914, and sailing with No. 1 Australian General Hospital, was at No. 1 Australian Stationary Hospital, Ismailia, and later No. 1 Casualty Clearing Station in Egypt, Malta, Lemnos, Gallipoli and Suez. Returning to Australia, was discharged in July, 1916, re-enlisted in Field Artillery as corporal in March, 1917, and joined Army Signals School, Dunstable, as instructor in signalling to Artillery. In January, 1919, transferred to A.A.S.C., serving in France, Germany and till demobilisation. Early education at a Sydney school and Joint Board Matriculation in Scotland.
