B.A., B.Ec., Law : Lieutenant, 56th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 20th June, 1916, and sailing as sergeant 10th Reinforcements 45th Battn. 10th May, 1917, served with battn. at Messines, Ypres, Villers-Bretonneux and the Somme till wounded and gassed near Mont St. Ouentin, 2nd September, 1918. On recovery attended Officers School, Tidworth, was commissioned 23rd November, promoted lieutenant, 1st March, 1919, and returned for demobilisation. Deputy Chief Inspector, Dept, of Education, N.S.W. Early education at Kogarah Superior Public School. Later at Teachers' College.
