Book of Remembrance entry
D.Sc., B.E., Professor (Sir) John Percival Vissing Madsen (B.Sc., BE, DSc) does not have an official entry in the Book of Remembrance. Madsen volunteered for active service but was retained as Officer Commanding (Major) and Chief Instructor (Captain) to the Commonwealth Engineer Officers Training School 1915-1918 at Moore Park and then at Roseville. It is believed he was taken off a troopship at the last minute to be retained as Chief Instructor.
