Book of Remembrance entry
Arts : Private, 56th Battn. and 14th Light Trench Mortar Battery, A.I.F., France. Enlisting 16th March, 1916, and sailing 7th October, fought with battn. from beginning of 1917 at the Somme, Bernafay Wood, Louveral and Bullecourt. Transferring to battery, served at Polygon Wood, Villers-Bretonneux and till demobilisation, though wounded near Morlancourt 27th June, 1918. Early education at Victorian State and Gairbraid and North Kelvinside Schools, Glasgow.
