Eng. I : Lieutenant, 3rd Battn., Devonshire Regiment, B.E.F.; also 9th Field Coy., Engineers, A.I.F., France. Enlisting in January, 1916, and sailing in June with 9th Field Coy. Engineers, served with coy. in France. Attended Officers Cadet Battn., Newmarket, England, in May, 1917, was commissioned on 30th, and posted to 3rd Battn. Devonshire Regiment, from Devonport to India, where attached i/25th London Regt. till demobilisation. Served under General Dyer in 1919
