M.E., A.M.I.E.Aust. : Lieutenant, 19th Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Enlisting 9th February, 1915, and sailing 15th June as lancesergeant, served at Gallipoli from August till the Evacuation, being promoted second-lieutenant, 8th October. After service on Suez Canal Defences, crossed to France in March, 1916, and fought at Pozieres and The Somme, being in command of A Coy. at Le Sars, where wounded 9th February, 1917, and evacuated to hospital in England and thence to Australia, arriving in June. Promoted lieutenant, 30th June, 1916. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School.
