Spent alot of time working with Red Cross organisations to treat Returned Servicemen. Arthur was active in the Returned Soldiers & Sailors Imperial League of Aust, ASSILA, Presented with the League's gold badge in 1940
Book of Remembrance entry
M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 13th August, 1916, and sailing 19th September, served from 29th January, 1917, with No. 1 Australian General Hospital, Rouen. Rejoining 8th Australian Field Ambulance 6th March, was for short periods with 5th Divisional Engineers H.Q. and R.M.O. 29th Battn. at the Somme, Hindenburg Line and Ypres where gassed 7th October. On recovery rejoined ambulance, becoming R.M.O. 30th Battn. 13th February, 1918, for a short period, 60th Battn. from 31st July and 5th Sanitary Section from 15th September, returning in January, 1920, after non-military employment in 1919. Mentioned in Despatches twice.
