Enlisted 16.7.15, after two previous attempts; instructor in bayonet exercises at Seymour; embarked with 10th rfts. of 23rd Btn.; transferred 59th Btn. in Egypt; to France 18.6.16; L Cpl. 6.7.16. He was killed in his first engagement, at Pozieres, on 19th July 1916.
