Went to England to join British Army; obtained commission in A.S.C. July 1915, and three weeks later went to France, attached to an ammunition column, of which he later became Adjt. He was afterwards selected as Adjt. to the senior mechanical transport officer of a corps, and at the time of his death was under orders to take up an appointment at G.H.Q. In Somme operations 1915 and at Messines; later in operations in Flanders for which he was given M.C. Gained his captaincy in A.S.C. He died of pneumonia on 23.6.18.
