Melb. H.S.; Teachers' Coll.; 2nd year Education; was a member of the school cadet team which first gained the championship of Australia.
Gazetted 2/Lt. in the A.F.A. 1.7.14, he enlisted the first day on which volunteers were called for; sailed in October 1914; saw service in Egypt, Gallipoli (till evacuation), France, and Belgium; sailed as 2/Lt. with 3rd Bde., A.F.A.; transferred 2nd Bde.; promoted Lieut. on Gallipoli and Capt. in France (1st Bde.). At time of death was A Major. Mentioned in Despatches. Killed in action in France on 3rd August 1917.
