Not listed on the Roll of Active Service. She undertook war work as a medical practitioner while in Britian. After the war Dr Esson campaigned for widespread immunisation to prevent infectious diseases as Medical Officer to the Melbourne City Council, whilst also treading the boards as an amateur actress and helping to develop Australian theatre.
