Book of Remembrance entry
D.S.O., M.B., Ch.M., F.R.A.C.S. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Enlisting in February, 1915, and sailing in June, served as R.M.O. 18th Battn. at Gallipoli, where wounded 17th September, and in France at Armentieres and Pozieres. Transferring to 5th Australian Field Ambulance in January, 1917, became R.M.O. 19th Battn. and served with it until 1919, except for six weeks with 1st Australian Casualty Clearing Station in late 1918. Promoted major, 29th January, 1917. Awarded D.S.O. 3rd June, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Ipswich Grammar School. Later at St. Paul's College.
