M.C., B.A., LL.B. : Captain, 5th Pioneer Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 1st December, 1915, and sailing n th March, 1916, with 15th Reinforcements 1st Battn., was transferred to 5th Pioneers, 3rd May and served at Fleurbaix, Somme, Bullecourt, Ypres, Messines, Villers-Bretonneux and elsewhere until demobilisation. Promoted second-lieutenant, 6th July, 1916; captain, 8th May, 1917. Awarded M.C. 4th June, 1917, and Mentioned in Despatches.
