Book of Remembrance entry

B.A.; M.D., Ch.B. (Edin.), D.P.H. (Camb.) : Captain, R.A.M.C., England and Egypt. Enlisting in Edinburgh 7th July, 1915, was appointed M.O. Tillicoultry area, Scotland, on 17th and, transferring to Southampton Rest Camp 20th August, sailed on 30th. Served at Military Hospital, Citadel, Cairo, from September to December, was R.M.O. 2/7 Middlesex Infantry Regiment, Mersa Matruh, Western Frontier, till March, 1916, and M.O. 2nd South Midland Mounted Brigade Field Ambulance till April. Captured by Turks at Katia 23rd April, 1916, and released at the Armistice. Prior to demobilisation was M.O. Dispersal Camp, Kinross, from March to June, 1919, later returning to Australia. Early education at East Maitland High School.
