Book of Remembrance entry
Econ. : Sapper, 2nd Signal Coy., Engineers, A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting 19th November, 1915, and sailing 11th March, 1916, with 15th Reinforcements 1st Signal Coy. as acting sergeant, was engaged on communication work around Suez Canal and Tel-el-Kebir from 14th April. Reaching France in July, crossed to School of Instruction, England, in October and rejoined unit in February, 1917. Served at Bullecourt, Ypres, Albert, Armentieres, Amiens, Peronne, Mont St. Quentin and till after the Armistice. Attended Australian Central Corps School, Rue, while awaiting demobilisation. Member of Sydney University Scouts. Signal Instructor while in camp at Moore Park. Early education at Sydney Technical High School.
