Enlisting 18th July, 1917, and sailing 2nd August, served at No. 3 Australian General Hospital, Abbeville, as radiographer from 30th October, 1917, to December, 1918. Promoted major, 11th November, 1918. Early education at The Armidale School. Later at St. Paul's College.
