Some time Executive Officer British Red Cross (Aus. Branch) in Egypt. Resigned commission in A.I.F., and gazetted Lieut.-Col. in R.A.M.C. 29.2.16. Consulting Aurist to Egyptian Force March 1916, and member of Council British Red Cross Service. President of Standing Medical Boards in E.E.F., and President of Board in connection with Turkish prisoners sick and wounded. Relinquished commission 14.1.19.
During war published Twin Ideals, The A.A.M.C. in Egypt (with Lieut. Deane), The Y.M.C.A. in Egypt, and A Vision of the Possible. First Secretary to Aus. Red Cross. On return appointed Consulting Oculist to 3rd Mil. District.
Despatches twice; Order of Nile 3rd Class 1916; K.B.E. March 1918; C.B., Mil. Division, June 1918.
