M.C., M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 1st March, 1916, joined No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, and 1st Australian Field Ambulance after Pozieres, 29th August, becoming M.O. 1st Artillery Brigade and serving till death. Awarded M.C.* and Mentioned in Despatches. Killed in Action, Ypres, 20th July, 1917, and buried in Reninghelst Military Cemetery. Early education at The Scots College. * He displayed the utmost courage and devotion in tending the wounded under heavy fire, assisting to places of safety until they could be evacuated.—London Gazette, 18th June, 1917.
