Enlisted, after eight attempts, Aug. 1915, Pte. A.A.M.C.; sai led March 1916; promoted Sgt., but in Egypt joined 12th Fld. Amb. as Pte.; to France at end of May 1916; awarded M.M. for bringing in wounded, as stretcher-bearer, under a cloud of gas.
While tending the wounded at Menin Road, E. of Ypres, on the night of 29/30 September 1917, he was wounded and brought back to the C.C.S., but died during the night, aet. 24. He and J. W. A. Agnew enlisted together, served together, and fell together.
